Davie Fogarty is responsible for perhaps one of Australia’s biggest fashion crimes.. the polyester jumper-blanket hybrid known as, the Oodie. More than 3 million have been sold around the world and the product’s success has landed Davie 27, on this year’s Young Rich List with an estimated wealth of $170 million. His journey began with six failed business, including a stint owning a Vietnamese café. Moving on, he decided to master the art of marketing products online and taught himself everything from copywriting to graphic design to website content by consuming YouTube videos, podcasts and reading books. He taught himself about algorithms and the systems behind the major social media platforms and his big break came in 2018 when (with $500 in savings) he launched his first product – a weighted blanket. The Davie Group now owns 10 brands, including Pupnaps, a range of calming beds for pets, helping drive annual revenue to more than $250 million. Davie is a fascinating and brilliant young man and along the way, I discovered that he’s an introvert doing extravert things. Enjoy.
