There are some tough jobs but I can’t think of one that would take more of a mental, emotional and physical toll than that of crash scene investigator and reconstruction expert with Victoria Police’s Major Collision Investigation Group. Neither can I imagine what it would be like to attend more than 2,000 fatalities (including the deaths of 20 fellow police officers) and then in the middle of that devastation, overwhelm and trauma, to find a way to be calm, analytical and efficient. To establish what happened and why. To think clearly in the middle of the chaos and ‘do your job’. Well, former Detective Peter Bellion is that person and as you might imagine, it hasn’t been without its personal consequences. This was an eye-opener for me. Loved it.
