We don't typically 'feel courageous', we feel scared and it's only in that fearful state, that we can choose to be courageous. Courage can only operate in the presence of fear. Being scared is normal and unavoidable, but being courageous is optional. Fear is a psychological and emotional response to a certain stimulus (thought, experience, event, outcome) but in the middle of the fear (that we didn't choose), we can choose to be courageous. Not fearless, courageous. By the way, I’ve never been fearless.
