68.92 metres (226 feet). That’s how far Kathryn Mitchell threw her javelin to win the 2018 Commonwealth Games Gold medal. Or as I like to call it, far as f*ck. It’s also the furthest any female in the world has thrown a javelin in the last seven years. Apart from being an amazing athlete and competing at two Olympics and four Commonwealth Games, Kathryn is also a super-interesting, raw, real and relatable person who, like the rest of us, is trying to navigate and negotiate the peaks and troughs, joy and tears, pleasure and pain of the human experience. This chat was not what I expected. It was better.
